Notification of Change (NOC) Reference Guide
The purpose of a Notification of Change (NOC) is to inform the sender that information contained in an ACH entry is incorrect or outdated, and needs to be changed. Typically, when an NOC is received, the transaction will process as expected. After receiving an NOC, you should update your records to reflect the requested change to the account(s) to ensure that future ACH transactions can continue to be processed correctly. NOCs are sent to ACH users via secure email.
The National Automated Clearing House Association (NACHA) rules require your company to make changes to the customer record(s) within 6 days of receiving the NOC. Failure to update information from an NOC may result in additional incurred fees.
For your convenience, the below reference guide outlines the action needed by the originator for the most commonly found NOC codes.
